My child is in Intensive care what’s next?

I know personally It can be frightening whenever kids are in the hospital — maybe even more so when they're admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU). But a basic understanding of the people and equipment in the PICU can help you feel less scared and better prepared to help your child recover
Tip One:
Ask as many questions as you can. Write them down as they come to you, and become very acquainted with the Nursing staff. My mother has always said to me that Knowledge is power the more information you have about what is going on with your child the better.
Do you know?
·         Why you were sent to the PICU?
·         Who are the Attending Physicians?
·         Who will care for my child?... ie attending, fellow, residents or specialist
·         What should I expect?
This is a just a basic list of question to ask while you are there.

Welcome

Welcome to ICU Village a support network for families with children in the Intensive Care Unit. My Daughter spent 10 months of her life in the hospital and we wouldn’t have been able to sustain without the Help of Nurses, physicians, social workers, chaplains, volunteers, parents, family, friends and the Lord Almighty. All of which makes up what I call the ICU Village. I believe it takes a village to save a life.
